Andersen Products was founded in 1956 by New York surgeon Dr Harold Andersen. It began its medical business in Oyster Bay, New York when Dr Andersen invented a better apparatus for gastric drainage in the course of his clinical work at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. The need to sterilize these tubes led to the development of our Anprolene line of Ethylene Oxide sterilizers. Today the product line includes gastric and intestinal tubes, wound drains, and three types of EtO sterilizers (Anprolene, EOGas and Sterijet), with their associated chemical and biological sterilisation controls.
Our customers include a diverse group of over 6,000 healthcare-related facilities around the world, such as hospitals, day surgery centres, dentists, veterinary clinics, research and clinical laboratories, as well as medical device manufacturers. Andersen conducts business with customers in every continent, from mobile field hospitals in developing countries to the most sophisticated tertiary care institutions on the planet.
Over the years, the company has maintained its focus on providing cutting edge technology for niche healthcare applications. The most recent product introduction is the EOGas Series 4 continues Andersen’s tradition of expert innovation, breaking the four hour barrier for EtO sterilisation.
Health Science Park, the group's North Carolina headquarters, houses our manufacturing, quality assurance laboratory, R&D offices. The plant is EPA and FDA registered, and OSHA compliant, as well as being ISO 13485 and ISO 9000 certified for the manufacture of our sterilizers, and for the manufacture and sterilisation of our range of tubes and drains.
Today the Andersen Group of companies, still owned and run by Dr Andersen, employs over 150 people worldwide.
